Olympic Lifestyle

Mialki : We are not all Olympians but we can
definitely learn from the way that Olympians eat. Olympians have to eat a
variety of healthy foods to be able to fuel their bodies to perform their best,
so we too can do that by eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low
fat dairy and lean protein. So I’ve definitely heard news stories of some
Olympic athletes needing, you know, like 10,000 calories a day, which is a lot
more than what the average person needs so the average female needs somewhere
between 1600 and 2400 calories a day whereas the average male needs about
2,000 to 3,000 calories a day so with increasing physical activity obviously
the calorie demands increase so an Olympic athlete could need thousands
more calories than you know the average American person. While some of us may
have already broken our New Year’s resolutions to you know be more active
or eat a little better I think that the Olympics is actually a really great
opportunity for us to be reminded of how important living this type of healthy
lifestyle is and it can help maybe you know boost us back on track.
